Patrik Thomas is an artist and filmmaker working at the intersection of documentary film, expanded cinema, media pedagogy, and urban practice. His work explores collective production methods, mobile cinematic infrastructures, and counter-archival strategies, often deliberately blurring the boundaries between documentary and fiction. He studied fine arts and time-based media at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich, as well as at art schools in Lisbon and São Paulo, and was a master student at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig.

Teaching and mediation are integral to his practice. He has held teaching and tutoring positions in artistic and theatrical contexts and works as a media educator with children, youth, and adults, connecting film practice with participation, public space, and critical image literacy.

In 2013 he founded MOVIMENTO, a collaborative film lab and residency format in Portugal. His films and installations have been shown internationally. His short film TAIWASTE received the FFF Förderpreis, and his feature documentary BOALÂNDIA on cultural resistance and cineclub movements in Brazil premiered at the São Paulo International Film Festival.

Recent projects focus on cinema as a mobile social practice, including CINÉ VÉLO CITÉ and CINEVAN, developed in collaboration with Lothringer 13 Halle, the Goethe-Institut, and the Museum Brandhorst. He is currently developing ANGRA, a film project on nuclear infrastructure, memory, and resistance in Brazil.
